The
Ted Baxter Memorial Fun-Fly
October
2, 1999
Fun, food, family, and beautiful weather -- they were all
part of the October 2, 1999 Ted Baxter Fun-Fly.
The field was in excellent condition thanks to
Dave Collins, Cono Damato and Marv Jensen.
Flying took a back seat to other events with
only five planes flown. The pilots in
alphabetical order were Rex Baldree, Bill Carraway, David Jones, and Bob Morrissey.
Four children from the age of 2 to 8 had a wonderful
time flying and competing with their balsa gliders built and then repaired by
Martin Bailey. The children in alphabetical
order were Laura Page Allen (8), Lillian Bailey (8), Austin Baldree (6), and
Nikki Jones (2). They were all winners
and received medals.
David Jones demonstrated aerobatic maneuvers
with his 80" wingspan Extra 300 Profile powered by a 120 Thunder Tiger
engine. This was his second aircraft after the first
had rudder flutter, which took out the rudder servo.
The highlight of the day had to be the food. Bob Morrissey performed his responsibility
as Pig Chef in an outstanding fashion. The
other food provided by the members was also delicious and further added to a
wonderful day of fellowship with friends and family.
It was a great day enjoyed by all. A special thanks goes to Marv Jensen for coordinating the event.
